Lesson For Life, Drive Safely

motor-vehicle-accident.pngI was recently reading this month’s edition of Scuba Diving Magazine.  As I turned to the Lessons for Life article, I was surprised to read it was about driving safety instead of scuba safety.

As a safety consultant and trainer, I am always talking about safety both at and away from work.  The BLS () states today most employees are injured on their way to or from work in vehicle accidents.  As a Fleet Safety Manager Instructor, I teach the value of how important it is to have your employees alert and awake on their ride to of from work.

This article, while it relates to a scuba diver, makes some great points for anyone driving.  Never drive when you are tired, stay hydrated (not alcohol), know when to stop and rest.

As we enter the holiday season, please be aware of these points, and also that driving while under the influence will cause more injuries and death than any other type of accident.  Good job Scuba Diving Magazine!
