Antigua Stingray City

I was recently on a trip and had the pleasure to stop at Stingray City be in Antigua .  Stingray City is about 30 minutes west from St. John’s.  The actual Stingray site is then another 10 minutes by boat.  The Stingrays are on a sandbar in about 4-5 feet of water.  As the picture shows there are some really large Southern rays.  The crew gives everyone some squid to feed the rays and then whomever wants, get to have their picture taken holding a Southern.  The animals are pretty friendly, but be aware, they are wild creatures.  There is lots of good photo opportunities.

My wife also had good time. At a depth of 4 feet she was able to stand on the bottom.  You can also do some snorkeling at a small coral reef, but there is not much to see.  If you go to Antigua, you might want to stop in and say hello to the rays.  Everyone in our group, including children and non-swimmers, had a good time.
