Right Choice, Make the “Right Bite”
One of most frequent questions I am asked by visitors when I dive in the Caribbean Reef at the Shedd Aquarium is, “ have you ever been bitten feeding the fish?” My answer is the only bite I have had is the “RIGHT BITE“. RIGHT BITE is a Shedd program to promote sustainable seafood.
Healthy marine ecosystems depend on healthy fish populations. That’s why Shedd is committed to promoting sustainable seafood. What exactly does “sustainable” mean? It means choosing fish species to eat that are bountiful. You can click on this link and download a guide to choosing the right seafood to eat or you can listen to this presentation on the declining fish population. As divers, snorkeler, or people who care about our ecology we should all be concerned about the declining fish population. I want my children, grandchildren and everyone to be able to see a parrotfish, a nurse shark or a dolphin in the ocean and not only in an aquarium.
