Instructors should always be on the alert for students with asthma or other respiartory problems.  Asthma is one of the diseases, which can keep a person from diving or even snorkeling.  Dan has compiled a lot of information about asthma and diving.  Our YMCAscuba program requires each student to have their doctor sign a medical form before taking lessons. 

Now the people at MedDive have come up with a snorkel for the asthma patient.  In addition, they have developed a new regulator for the asthma patient.  The purpose of this article is to let you know about new dive equipment either available or soon-to-be available.  We do not endorse any product(s).  I would highly recommend that all potential divers or snorkelers, who experience asthma, first check with their physicians before even looking at these products.
