Recently Divester reported a story about a 24-foot squid that was filmed and captured off the Ogasawara Islands south of Tokyo.  Unfortunately the squid died while be filmed as it was towed.  This link to CNN.com will let you see the film.  I would have preferred they release the animal before it died.  The longest squid caught on record is 60 feet.  They are the natural feeding food of the sperm whale.

The Unmuseum.org reports that the beak of the giant squid can cut through a steel cable, and their eyes are the largest in the animal kingdom, getting as large as 18 inches in diameter.
