BATFISH and Robin

PlanetSave.com recently reported on a study conduted by the Australian Research Council Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies on the rare Batfish. These fish, of which there are 27 species, have been successful in removing forests of algae that can kill a coral reef. The study was printed in the journal Current Biology. While the parrott fish and surgeonfish were able to control the growth of some algae, the batfish can remove the most problemmatic algae blooms, which often can kill a reef.
