Seasick - What do I do?
Have you ever gotten seasick on a dive trip? It has happened to me a few times. On my 2nd dive trip ever, I was diving with Atlantis Dive Shop in Key Largo, Florida. I was not feeling to well during the boat ride out to the dive site (which is sometimes common in the Keys). At the dive site, we went down about 30 feet, and I knew what was going to happen. The underwater surge caused my seasickness to get even worse. That’s when I remembered what I had learned in my YMCA dive class. Keep your regulator in your mouth, so you don’t swallow seawater and become sicker. Everything came out of the 2nd stage of my regualtor and the fish loved me. DAN (Divers Alert Network) has articles, which promote both keeping your regulator in your mouth, or taking it out when you get sick underwater. The YMCA program strongly promotes keeping your regulator in your mouth. You know what I did, what have you done?
