Today I learned The John G. Shedd Aquarium and ABC’s Good Morning America have teamed up to name the new baby Beluga calf. ABC posted video of the whale’s birth.
Do you have a good name like Jacque Cousteau II or maybe Paula? Submit your name for the little one and post your favorite submissions in our comments.
There are some great photos of the Beluga whale and her mom. And you can read from the whale’s blog…ok I am joking it’s just a diary.

Late next week, Diane Sawyer, Robin Robinson and the other ABC anchors will unveil their “top four names” and ask America to vote on one of them. The name will be announced ”live” from Shedd around Nov. 9. So vote early and often and help choose the little beluga’s name! Reading the hints it seems they want a native sounding name. But I wonder if Diane Sawyer is up on her Inuit.
I am guessing the finalists will be more like:
Elvis
Derek Lee
Urlacher
Oprah
Leaning way more towards the pop culture side of things.

Bella is a common name and the number one name submitted by viewers. Nalupu is a combination of two Inuit names (Naluark - the dad, and Puiji - the mom).
